About Erin, Photography, & Weddings
Photography is my love, my passion, and - excluding my family and friends, of course - my very favorite thing in the whole wide world. I have vivid memories of wandering around the front yard of my childhood home taking photographs when I was about seven. My camera at the time was plastic and purple with little flash cubes on top and I can still see my front yard framed through its tiny viewfinder.
When I was a teenager, I really discovered photography and I have lived and breathed it ever since. My early roots were in black & white film and I practically lived in the darkroom throughout my entire time in high school. In college, I worked for the school newspaper, I took fine art photography and photojournalism classes, and I photographed my first two weddings. In 2002, I graduated from the University of Oregon and I started my own photography business.
Today, I have over 100 weddings under my belt. I run a small, one-woman operation out of my home and I have a passion for wedding photography that is as strong as ever - and, as I like to think, rarely rivaled. For me, wedding photography is about my love and reverence for the significance of your wedding. I honor that with a passionate dedication to getting photographs that truly matter, revealing the full range of emotions that you, your family, and friends were feeling on your wedding day.
If you choose to work with me, I can promise you that I will work tirelessly to create a beautiful collection of photographs that you will love forever and I will put my heart into creating the one thing that will really last after your wedding is over.

The Consultation & Pre-Wedding Planning

I like knowing the details. For me, the initial consultation with potential wedding clients is my chance to learn as much as I can about you. It includes me asking you a lot of questions. I want to know how you met, I want to hear your engagement story, I want to hear about your wedding plans, and I want to know why photography is important to you.
I gather as much information as I can during this initial meeting so I can help steer you in the right direction in terms of creating a custom package that will suit your needs perfectly. I always bring sample albums with me, too, so you can see some of my work on something other than a computer screen!
It's a big deal choosing your wedding photographer, and I want to make sure that we click before you take the plunge and book me for your wedding. You have to love my work and we have to like each other. If we hit it off during this meeting, chances are we'll get the pleasure of working together on your wedding day.
Since I am often booked more than a year in advance, I like to meet with my couples for a second time about 1-2 weeks before their wedding. During this second meeting, we will walk through your final wedding day schedule and I will help you create a list of family & formal photos that are most important to you. I will also help make sure we have enough time allotted in your schedule to get these important photos taken.

Your Wedding Day & Formal Photos

My couples often describe me as professional, personable, enthusiastic yet calming, friendly, hardworking, and organized. I am always happy when I'm photographing a wedding - no kidding, always! I talk and interact with you and your guests when appropriate, but I also have a quiet and unobtrusive approach to taking photographs. The act of balancing these friendly interactions and quiet observation creates the perfect environment for natural and beautiful photographs of you and your guests enjoying the day.
When it's time for your formal photo session, however, I discard my quiet and unobtrusive approach and I keep us moving efficiently thorough the list of photographs that we put together during our final planning meeting. I check each photo off as we go and I work hard to make this part of the day as quick and painless as possible. Couples who hire me are always impressed by how effortless this part of the day turns out to be and I am always happy when I am able to wrap these photos up ahead of schedule.

After Your Wedding

Every package I offer includes your high-resolution digital negatives because I believe this complete collection of your wedding photographs is a true family heirloom and I don't think any couple should be without it. After the wedding, I spend many hours editing and fine-tuning your final collection of wedding photographs. I deliver a complete set of color photographs and a complete set of black & white photographs - all on an archival disc. This final collection of photographs is yours to enjoy forever.
